Maria De Vries

Dick was born on 31st August 1948 in Hilversum in the Netherlands. He showed great interest in painting from an early age and is mainly a self-taught artist.

Dick studied wooden boat building and the restoration of classic boats at the beginning of his career, through which he picked up a very thorough knowledge of ships while working as a shipbuilder.

His love of painting and his very obvious talent allowed him to combine his interests. His work is held in high esteem among 20th century Dutch marine artists due to its technical accuracy. The colouring of his paintings is excellent and enhanced by the wealth of knowledge that Dick brings to each piece.

Dick has held many successful exhibitions both in Germany and the Netherlands.
