Les Matthews
Les Matthews is a Bristolian artist of national and international standing. He is a warm and approachable artist with a larger than life character who loves meeting people. Les is a very successful artist and requires little introduction to his loyal and expanding base of collectors. His unique, modern and intricate work appeals to both young and old.
Each of his paintings take hours of painstaking concentration, which demand the viewer to explore fully the intricacies and quality of his work, drawing the audience back time after time. His technical competence and patience is extraordinary, which is clearly reflected in each of his stunning paintings.
His work is in many private and public collections within the UK and abroad, including City Museums, National Trust Properties, Universities and Museum of Modern Art and Australia.
Educated at Bristol Cathedral School, before gaining a BA 1st Honours Degree at Gloucestershire College Of Art. He then joined the Royal College of Art, where he was by Peter Blake and gained his MA. He gained valuable experience as a student restorer at the National Gallery.
