Alan Smith

Alan Smith

Alan Smith was born in Kiel, Germany in 1941. He came to England in 1953, where his family has lived on the South coast ever since.

Alan was a qualified engineer by profession, and spent many years in the Middle East. Whilst working abroad he has always painted in his spare time.

He is a self-taught artist who has developed many different styles. It is Alan’s ability to adapt and improve his technique that has enabled him to produce work of such high calibre. Although he started painting using watercolours he now concentrates on working with acrylics and oils.  His paintings reflect a style unique to Alan which encompasses scenes of South West England in an almost architectural quality of drawing details and outlines.

Since retiring he is devoted to his painting and travels extensively throughout the UK, gaining material to inspire his artwork and his paintings are becoming increasingly sought-after.
