Gary McNamara

Born in 1965 in Liverpool, Gary McNamara first worked in advertising. It was here that he was first introduced to illustration work. Gary went on to work as an in-house illustrator for Image Software (a computer games company) and created many of their game covers.

An opportunity then arose for him to become a full-time, freelance illustrator and he worked for some of the biggest advertising agencies in the country. Over the next 8 years, Gary McNamara slowly came away from advertising and started illustrating children’s books, game box covers for publishers all over the world (for the likes of Disney, Ravensberger, Egmont, Random House and Mattel). Working mainly on licensed characters from Disney, Thomas the tank, Noddy, Dora and Bob the builder and an array of covers for fiction novels.

Fine Art has always been a passion of Gary’s and after experimenting with different styles and subjects his dreamlike figurative works have taken off in popularity.

Forest Gallery are pleased to work closely with Gary McNamara. If you have any special requests or would like to discuss a commissioned painting, please get in touch with us.
