Alan Smith Patchwork Landscapes
Alan Smith’s Patchwork Landscapes bring fields, farms, cottages and coastal views together in a distinctive mosaic of colour. Slim tracks lead through rolling countryside towards forests, beaches and turquoise horizons, while flashes of red, orange and lilac enliven fresh greens, muted earth tones and serene blues. Dorset, Dartmouth and rural scenes sit alongside more broadly imagined views, balancing recognisable landscape subjects with simplified, near-abstract patterns.
Painted in acrylic on board or panel, the collection spans small and medium formats. Layered fields, crisp divisions and tiny details give each composition structure, while playful colour keeps the scenes bright and contemporary. White slips and pale, pewter, warm grey or silver-toned frames complement many of the paintings without distracting from their vivid patchwork rhythms.
