Juan Antonio Domínguez

Juan Antonio Domínguez

Juan Antonio Domínguez was born in 1966 in the Spanish port city of Huelva. With a keen interest in the representational world surrounding him, the arts took on a leading role in Juan’s life from an early age with encouragement from his family. Juan’s artistic talents were clear from an early age and before long he was holding solo exhibitions in Seville and shortly after in cities across Spain.

Once finishing college, Juan Antonio Domínguez travelled to Madrid to study Castillian Spanish masters in more detail and to gain a deeper understanding of the history of his nation’s artists and artworks. Under tutorship from several professors at the Faculty of Fine Arts both in Madrid and in Seville, Juan developed his style and technique further whilst appreciating the importance of always seeking to learn and improve. It is this dedication and enthusiasm to learn that underpins the success of Juan’s paintings, allowing him to represent his subjects in a masterful way and connect with his audience.

Juan Antonio Domínguez draws inspiration from the local landscape, specialising in seascapes full of detail in what artists might commonly overlook. The artist’s rendering of sand dunes are a particular favourite of collectors, with particular attention paid to the long shadows cast in the setting sun. The artist finds solace in his still life paintings which are full of a dreamy charm and subtle tonal palettes. With a keen eye for detail and compositional elements that push forward a bold sense of skill, his masterful representation of reflected light sets his paintings apart from other representational artists in his field.

Not one to forget the tremendously helpful tutoring Juan received early in his career, the artist has directed numerous workshops for aspiring artists for over twenty years now and continues to do so in his home town of Huelva.

Forest Gallery are delighted to be the exclusive representative of Juan Antonio Domínguez in the UK and bring this exceptionally talented artist to our gallery space and online.
