Terry Evans was born in 1943 in Romford, Essex and initially started painting for self-satisfaction, painting portraits, racing-cars and dogs. Terry experimented with water-colour and acrylics and then he tried oils. Terry explains that this was a turning point in his career as he found the expressive freedom of working in paint that stayed workable for days. A second breakthrough came when he used oils to paint landscapes. By popular demand, he turned professional and for many years has enjoyed run-away success.

Terry attended art school at Hornsey but his unique and distinctive style was inspired by the renowned artist, Charles Lifar. It is characteristic of Terry Evans that he openly acknowledges the debt that he owes to the older artist. But Terry has taken the approach further and developed it into a style uniquely his own.

A “Terry Evans” is much more detailed, and crisper in technique than his mentor’s work. Not only does Terry wield his palette knife with aplomb but he also adds fine subtle touches with a thin long-haired sable.

Terry generously loads the canvas with oil paint, lavishly applied with gusto. The canvasses groan under the weight of his impasto sculptured landscapes. The penny-pinching disciplines of formal fine art training are completely unobserved.

Evans has also added his own subject preferences to the style. The paintings tell of a wilderness with running water, glades, rocks, pools, mountains, trees and flowers.

Terry Evans’ paintings are of unspoilt nature in the raw. Not even an old rotting fence-post is allowed to spoil these landscapes. Nowhere in a Terry Evans will you find a trace of Mankind.

Terry has exhibited in his own one-man shows in Langres Gallery, New York, Stavanger Norway, Rubens Gallery Miami, Singapore, London and elsewhere. Terry Evans pictures are collected by a wide public, among others the Russian Ambassador to London, Barclays Bank and the Queen of Ghana, Saudi Arabia who gave him a personal gift of an 18-carat gold pen and pencil set when he delivered her paintings.

UK DELIVERY
Free insured delivery via courier on all orders over £250, typically within 5 working days. If framing is required please allow 10–14 days. You will receive order confirmation and tracking details once booked — if you need delivery on a specific day please note this at checkout.

Some large artworks under glass may require a specialist courier and are excluded from the free delivery offer; we will contact you to confirm before proceeding. Express delivery and professional installation are available in some areas — please get in touch to arrange. Please note that all dimensions are approximate and rounded to the nearest inch.

INTERNATIONAL DELIVERY
We deliver artworks worldwide. For the majority of countries shipping charges will be applied automatically at checkout. If you are outside of these regions you may still purchase online and we will contact you with a competitive quotation for delivery to your country. Alternatively please get in touch for a quotation prior to purchase.

RETURNS
For your peace of mind, we offer an extended 30 day returns option for any online purchase. We suggest you retain the original packaging if you are considering this option as we reserve the right to deduct any damage which occurs during return transit. Once we have received the return it will be checked and a refund will be issued less the return postage costs.

Home Viewing Options +

For those living close to our galleries we offer a Home Viewing Service – this is available within a 10–15 mile radius – please get in touch with us to confirm availability.

Alternatively, and for those further afield, we offer a Home Approval Service which allows you to borrow an artwork for up to 7 days. To take advantage of either of these services please get in touch to discuss your requirements.
