Abstract Art
Abstract art brings together colour, shape and form to convey visual ideas in an expressionistic manner. By moving away from depicting reality, abstract art focuses more on visual qualities to evoke an emotional response in the viewer. It can be made with a combination of materials and techniques used together to elicit the intended response in the viewer. The works of Peter Vaillant for example use shapes, colour and texture as the dominant motif to emphasise pattern and randomness simultaneously. On the other hand, abstractions can be an accompanying style within a more recognisable feature, such as the landscape abstract art of Mario Malfer.
