Harry Brioche was born in the Seychelles in 1965 of Creole and American parentage. The freedom and sense of adventure offered by island life was idyllic and wonderful. However, this was brought to an abrupt end when his family was forced to flee the island and the coup d’état in 1977. Harry moved to England with his family in 1980, embracing his new land and culture through the early years. He is now happily settled in Cheshire on the edge of the Peak District with his wife and two sons.

Harry considers himself a self-taught artist although he briefly attended Maidstone College of Art. Faced with an ultimatum to conform to the institution’s style and methods of painting, he made the brave decision to go it alone. Harry went on to carve out a highly successful career as an illustrator and graphic designer and worked with international brands including Dr Martens, Coca Cola and BAE Systems.

Harry was instantly captivated by the raw magnificence of the great British landscape and its ever-changing skies. The boundless inspiration offered by the area around him installed an intense desire to capture and share these vistas. Harry aims to convey both the spirit of a place and the poetry of a moment caught in memory. It is this combination that lifts his artwork to the familiar yet unique and striking visual representations that we have come to love, with a stark focus on the key element, light.

With total commitment and passion for his art and the creation of such beautiful pieces, it is no surprise that Harry’s original paintings now hang in private and corporate collections around the world. His artwork is regularly exhibited at the Mall Galleries in London through the NEAC, RSMA, ROI and the RBA annual exhibitions.
