Amy Louise
Amy Louise studied Art and Graphic design up to A-level and shortly after pursued an Art foundation year at Lincoln Art College. Travelling two hours by bus each day, Amy Louise relished the space and materials available to her at College. Here she experimented with a number of different creative practices and mediums before setting on a passion for textiles. This passion led Amy to study Fashion Design in Lincoln, from where she graduated in 2011.
Following her graduation, Amy completed a residency in Sweden for a festival where she worked on the design and creation of elaborate costumes for the dancers of the Carnival. This experience has remained with Amy ever since and its influences are clearly identifiable in her colourful and playful paintings. The development of creating textile designs and her new collection of paintings share similar processes. Building and developing characters to convey individualistic personalities for each animal subject brings the artwork to life.
The vibrant colours of the animals immediately catch your eye. Most notably the bold outlines used provide a powerful contrast from the background. Set against a backdrop of neutral Farrow and Ball shades, Amy’s artworks are an interior designers dream. We are delighted to have Amy Louise featuring here at Forest Gallery.
