Henderson Cisz
Henderson Cisz grew up in a small village near Maringa, Brazil. From a very young age he grabbed any opportunity to set brush to canvas, juggling the demands of school and work with his appetite for painting. His artwork gained local recognition and, in 1986, he found himself in London painting portraits of passing tourists on the corner of Shaftesbury Avenue.
Henderson soon upgraded to the railings of the Bayswater Road, where he attracted the attention of galleries and collectors. From here, his career took off – galleries competed for representation rights, he sold internationally, was nominated Artist of the Year in 2007, awarded the John Solomon Trophy, and written about in books and publications.
Henderson remained in London and is found today painting in his studio close to the Thames. From his early days in Piccadilly, he nurtured a love for atmospheric urban settings. The impressionistic touch of his brushstrokes and his clever use of colour breathe life into intimate urban vignettes which are at once sentimental and timeless.
Henderson is also famed for his tranquil and serene beach scenes. With their fresh, uplifting colours, open space, plus a gentle suggestion of romance, they calm the mind and inspire the imagination.
