Louise Fairchild studied Fine Art at Reading University and worked as an illustrator and artist worldwide for many years. The artist has worked on commissions for household names including British Airways, Barclays, Fortnum and Mason and Marks and Spencer.

During Louise’s early career she found success in a number of portrait commissions for business figures which took her work to the front of the CBI magazine for several editions. Following the success of these paintings the artist decided to return to art full time in 2009 and begin working on her first love, the wide open landscape.

Louise Fairchild paints with a keen sense of awareness for the calming presence of open landscapes and soft light. “My interest is in the solitude and isolation of extreme scenery, and my attempt to capture the mysterious mercurial nature of the light on the land and sea.” It is this portrayal of the landscape as an uninhabited place that gives her paintings the calming presence that is so admired by collectors. The artist speaks of the absence of humans as deliberate “to impart a timeless quality of past millennia when our impact on the planet was more benign”.

Forest Gallery are proud to exhibit Louise Fairchild whose work now hangs in private collections throughout the UK, USA and Asia.
