David Smith

David Smith

David Smith is a professional artist who describes himself as a “northerner with a few years under my belt”. He states that he has observed a lot of changes over the past few decades in the North of England.

David Smith’s art has a special approach to reality. In David’s words “Before cameras were as common as the coins in your pocket. I chose to record my surroundings with paint”. He painted as a hobby when he was younger but eventually decided to pursue it full time.

David Smith’s aim is to record life and the surroundings we all live in past and present.  It is an affectionate look at bygone times always with a touch of gentle humour.

“If it makes you smile then my job is complete.”

David’s paintings have a confident but quirky style with a touch of nostalgia and a nod to L.S. Lowry’s artwork.

David is available to commission specific pieces in the style and size required, please get in touch with one of the Forest Gallery team to discuss this further.
